Kintetsu bags Supplier Excellence award from Texas Instruments
July 05, 2017Kintetsu World Express, Inc. (KWE) recently received the Texas Instruments (TI) 2016 Supplier Excellence Award (SEA). The annual award honors companies whose dedication and commitment for supplying products and services meet the global semiconductor design and manufacturing company’s high standards for excellence.
This is the third time KWE has received the award; the first was in 2007 for outstanding performance in Global Transportation, and the second in 2011 for streamlining regional logistics in China.
For 2016, KWE’s award is for its contributions in various areas, including Global Transportation, Product Distribution Center development and TI Factory Site Logistics.
Last year’s 16 Supplier Excellence Award winners were an elite group selected from more than 12,000 suppliers to TI.
KWE and TI first developed a relationship in 1968 to handle logistics inbound/outbound from only Japan. Since then, KWE has become a global supplier for TI, operating air and ocean freights for more than 300 lanes in 24 countries.
Alongside TI’s commitment to excellence and continuous improvement, KWE has implemented various process, quality, and security management programs, including ISO 9001 and Class A Transported Asset Protection Association (TAPA) certifications.
KWE is the first physical distribution company in Japan to be ISO 9001-certified. Over 100 world locations in the 27 companies are certified, and provide standard, high-quality services. The same level of service is ensured worldwide, despite differences in business cultures.
KWE is registered under ISO 9001 in Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, the Philippines and several other countries.
With Class A certification by TAPA on December 16, 2003 of its Narita Terminal, KWE became the first Japanese freight forwarding company that satisfied the required conditions (FSR) for security management of cargo.
The KWE Group, following on from the initial certification of its Hong Kong terminal in December 2001, now has 18 terminals with Class A certification.
